R434A Refrigerant Gas Reclaimed at the GeneralGas site of Cernusco sul Naviglio, authorized by the Ministry of the Environment with official Program Agreement.
Reclamation carried out in accordance with the European Regulation F-Gas No 517/2014, quality of reclaimed R434A meets AHRI700-2017 standard (characteristics equivalent to those of the virgin product).
The reclaimed gas supplied by GeneralGas is labeled under RE 517/2014 with the indication that the substance has been properly reclaimed, indications on the batch number and the name and address of the regeneration site.
TECHNICAL NOTE:
As of 01/01/2020, the systems operated with gas type R404A/R507/R422D (i.e. with a value of GWP > 2.500), having a refrigerant charge of more than 40 Ton CO2 (equivalent, for example, to 10,2 kg of R404A), it will no longer be possible to use virgin gas in service or maintenance, as required by the current F-Gas regulation (EU Regulation 517/2014 art 13 paragraph 3).
The above legislation expressly prohibits the use of virgin gases, so any stock of such refrigerants (purchased before that date) will no longer be able to be used. In the absence of preventive retrofits (extraordinary maintenance) that provide for the replacement of the above refrigerants with more environmentally friendly refrigerants (e.g. HFO-based refrigerant mixtures, such as R448A-R449A-R452A etc. defined Low GWP, and in any case with GWP > 2 500), the use of reclaimed refrigerants is still possible in service or maintenance.
The use of regenerated refrigerant gas is permitted for a wide period, i.e. until 2030, as per the provisions contained in Regulation (EU) n ro 517/2014 art 13 paragraph 3 letters a) and b)
The reclaimed refrigerant has the same chemical composition and performance as virgin gas, perfectly corresponding to american AHRI700-2017 standards, universally recognized as a qualitative reference; reclaimed gas is obtained from industrial chemical processes, which use as a raw material waste made from refrigerant gases; its production is the prerogative of plants that are authorized by the Ministry of the Environment to treat waste.
The refrigerant for retrofitting flooded systems
Kryon® 434A is a mixture of refrigerant gases developed to retrofit flooded systems running with R-22. Kryon® 434A properties can solve problems that may occur when retrofitting flooded systems with R-507. In this case, in fact, the substitution of both the electric engine and the condenser is necessary.
A system working with R-507 needs to work with a higher electric power that exceeds the limit of the electric engine installed. And the same is true for the condenser that turns out to be underpowered when working with R-507. The condensation pressure in operation with R-507 is higher compared to the pressure when working with R-22. This value often exceeds the maximum operation pressure of condensers and safety valves provided with them.
The use of Kryon® 434A involves a limited Glide such as to obtain stable conditions of operation of flooded evaporators. The Glide turns out to be sufficiently low so as not to present phenomenon of significant variation of the liquid phase of chemical composition, even after several episodes of loss during gaseous phase.
Applications
Kryon® 434A can be used in flooded systems running with R-22 at low and medium temperature.
Kryon® 434A is used in existing medium temperature commercial refrigeration systems, including supermarket counter fridge and cold rooms.
Performance
- Condenser replacement is not necessary.
- Electric engine replacement is not necessary.
- Mineral oil replacement is not necessary.
- A lower condensation pressure compared to R-507.
Recommended Lubricants
Kryon® 434A is compatible both with traditional lubricants (mineral oil and alkylbenzene oil) and with new lubricants (polyol esters).
